Lactation Consultation Services FAQ
Q: What does a consultation cost?
A: There are 2 options available; in-office and in-home consultations. In-office sessions are available for $75 per hour. In-home consultations are available at $125 per hour long session. Please call for multiple fees.
Consultations are a fee for service, which means your insurance company may reimburse you. We will give you instructions on how-to submit each visit to your insurance provider.
Q: What happens during a consultation?
A: An IBCLC will meet one-on-one with both mother and baby. During the consultation we discuss your breastfeeding concerns & issues, as well as, your birth history and experience. It will be an overall assessment of your relationship to help you achieve your breastfeeding goals.
Q: When should I seek additional one-on-one help?
A: If you are expecting, we are happy to meet with you to discuss your prenatal breastfeeding concerns. During the prenatal consultations we help answer questions like Can I breastfeed with multiples? With certain medications? or After breast surgery?
After your baby is born, you may need to seek one-on-one guidance for the following reasons:
2 to 7 days:
Infant not latching-on, tender nipples, sore breasts, engorgement, baby sleeping "all the time", or baby "not content"
2 to 3 weeks:
Sore/damaged nipples, low milk supply, unexplained crying or colic
6 to 12 weeks:
Adjusting to feeding and sleeping patterns, pumping and storing breastmilk, returning to work or school
